5th International Seminar on Psychology (ISP) Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto: Contribution of Psychology in Empowering the Society
As we know, since pandemic Covid-19 is spreading worldwide, it affects all parts of human life such as the economy, business, health system, tourism sector, etc. Above those, this virus affected changing human behavior. People reduce close contact and increase feelings of boredom, worry, anger, and so on. To overcome the impact of this global health crisis also human crisis, the whole societies must tackle this together. All levels of society, without any exception, are expected to contribute according to their capabilities. The government, public, and private sectors should coordinate, collaborate and support each other to make a better world in an effort to empower individuals and communities. It’s also psychology as a field of science.
Based on the background described previously, this 5th International Seminar is conducted to obtain research and future research issues related to the new normal lifestyle from a psychological perspective. Furthermore, it is expected to obtain research findings and future issues related to individual and community empowerment.
5th International Seminar on Psychology Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto with the theme “Contribution of Psychology in Empowering the Society” to be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, via zoom meeting. The seminar agenda covers various interesting topics such as Clinical Psychology, Organizational and Industrial Psychology, Educational Psychology, Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Psychometrics, Studies Related to Human Behavior, Social Science, Education, and Technology.

Fatin RN Wahidah, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psi, as a project officer, appreciate and thank all the speakers and presenters that have shared valuable knowledge and their research funding in this seminar. Also, all participants, all the committees, and all sponsors who helped this seminar was exciting and had great success. Dr. Jebul Suroso, S.Kp.,Ns.,M.Kep, a rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, also appreciates this event and hopes it will be successful and beneficial for all participants.




This event was joined by about 260 participants from local and internationally, such as Malaysia and Japan and moderated by Tesa Nurul Huda, S.Psi., M.A. Popy Rufaidah, SE, MBA, Ph.D, Attache of Education and Culture Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia In Washington DC, USA, as a keynote speaker, speech about psychology that has any role in the world. The next speaker is Daichi Sugawara, Ph.D. from University of Tsukuba. His speech discussed the collaboration between psychology and technology to decrease anxiety through therapy’s application. And then, Assoc Prof.Dr. Hazalizah Binti Hamzah from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris gave a speech about industrial and organizational psychology and how it does empower society. The last speaker is Dr. Ugung Dwi Ario Wibowo, M.Si, Psikolog from Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto that speech about how using altruism to empower the society. After the seminar, presenters go to a parallel room in the zoom meeting to present their research papers.
